Erin Fontes is the owner and creative designer behind each EFIEhandmade jewel. A sketched idea becomes a single, deliberate composition—beads chosen with care, real metals threaded and wrapped, every piece built one by one until balance and beauty settle into place.

Creating has always been Erin’s language: stories told with fingers, rooms arranged like poems, gardens and events composed with the same careful eye that later shaped the first necklaces made at her mother’s side. She grew up with three brothers, each equally encouraged by their mother to express creativity, and that generous, fearless urging shaped the way she molds. That early encouragement—soft, fierce, and brief—still guides her work. EFIE is born of her name and of that impulse to say, in other words, I make; she loves not only the jewels themselves but the act of creating.

Materials carry memory here. Gemstones are selected for quality and resonance; gold and silver are real, chosen to last. The pearls are heirlooms—reclaimed from her grandmother’s strings—and each one is woven into a new life with reverence. When those pearls are spent, they will remain a cherished, finite chapter of the collection.

 

Her Pledge: "I pledge to honor the sea and its creatures with only vintage pearls and shells—kept, found, or ethically sourced—never taken from living beings or their homes. I vow to cherish history, reuse what already exists, and refuse products born of harm or exploitation."
